World Day for Safety and Health at Work

Today, 28 April, is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This day was created in 1996 with the intention of commemorating the victims of accidents at work and occupational diseases, with the idea of organising worldwide awareness-raising campaigns on this issue.

According to the latest report on accidents at work, there were 505,528 casualties due to accidents at work in Spain, most of them occurring during the working day and the rest on the way to or from work.

According to the same study, the main causes of accidents at work are the tasks of production, transformation, storage and circulation in work areas, making up 43% of all accidents.

Using all available means to ensure that employees work in a safe environment is both a right and an obligation for the employer, as we saw in our previous post about fines for accidents at workplaces. Working in a safe and comfortable environment for the employee can bring many benefits to the company and save a lot of problems both in the short and long term.
